If you don’t have your health, you have nothing.

Enamour your immune shield:

Have a Go Green Juice almost every day
It’s a sure-fire way to give our bodies all the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants needed to boost immunity. Preventing disease is a lot cheaper than curing it. This Ayurvedic proverb says it the best: When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use. When diet is correct, medicine is of no need. You can find my three powerhouse recipes on page 142 in Aussie Body Diet.

Sunlight is a nutrient and just as crucial as oxygen and water
Sunlight manufactures Vitamin D which is vital for immune health. Sunlight also makes us happy and happiness is immune boosting. You only need to expose your face, arms and hands for 10 to 15 minutes a day and away from the harshest sun. Without sunlight, there would be no plants, no Earth and no people.

Garlic
Garlic has wonderful antibacterial and antifungal properties. Increasing garlic in the diet at the first sign of cold or flu will help fight any infection present. You can also crush cloves of garlic and eat raw for a powerful antibacterial hit. Warm, nourishing foods such as soups, stews, broths and casseroles will warm the body as well as deliver essential vitamins and minerals needed to maintain a healthy, well-functioning immune system. Herbal teas are fantastic during the winter months. A great flu-fighter tea is lemon, ginger, garlic, chilli and honey. Steep fresh ingredients in boiling water for 10 minutes. Strain and drink warm.

Dry body brush
Our skin is the largest elimination organ in the body. Dry brushing not only exfoliates for a smooth feel, it also helps to improve lymphatic flow by upping the removal of unwanted toxins, hormones and by-products, which in turn, helps our immune function. Stroke the brush in upward movement from toes to heart and hand to heart, moving in the direction of lymph nodes such as the groin, armpits and base of neck.

Eat (and drink) beetroot
Beetroot contains a group of phytonutrients rich in antioxidants called betalains that is happiness for the liver. When this hard-working organ is happy, we are better equipped to handle anything and everything. Try Liver Lover Juice or grate beetroot raw in a salad. One of my all-time favourites is grated beetroot roasted in olive oil and sea salt in a salad.

Cleanse your space
We are walking, talking balls of energy, transforming so quickly, picking up and shedding so many pieces along the way that it’s important to take a moment to clear the energy around you. Release any tension or build-up of mental, emotional and spiritual energies in your space with regenerative soul kit.

And use natural household cleansers. The best ones use simple ingredients like eucalyptus oil, tea tree oil, citrus oil, bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar.

Drink raw apple cider vinegar
Always organic and with the Mother. The ACV shot became the most talked about part of Aussie Body Diet when it first came out in 2013, which is surprising considering it’s now commonplace to use this type of condiment. ACV is super-alkalising, amazing for digestion and issues such as diabetes. My version in the book included cayenne pepper to promote thermogenic weight loss.

Coconut
Coconut contains powerhouses lauric and caprylic acid which fights off bacteria and viruses. Have one tablespoon of extra-virgin organic coconut oil or organic coconut yoghurt (natural/no added sugar) almost every day. Add to smoothies or use in cooking.

Booti Booti Bush Remedies
Your best companion during unprecedented times to strengthen the immune system and work as a protective barrier against anything foreign. Protection contains a secret concoction of these immune-boosting herbs: Dandelion root, echinacea, elderflower, ginger, lemon balm, licorice, mullein, peppermint, rose hip, thyme.
